CASE STUDY
Sustainable Finance with Innovate UK Business Connect
Callala collaborated with Innovate UK Business Connect on a comprehensive Climate Impact Lab market engagement project.
The objective was to explore how space-derived insights and geospatial analytics could together bridge data gaps within the sustainable finance sector. By conducting deep research with the sustainable finance community, Callala has enabled the delivery of well-evidenced science-led sustainable finance solutions, concurrently advancing the UK space and geospatial sectors.
The project involved rigorous assumption testing and analysis of market signals to gather critical insights from industry stakeholders. These were pivotal in shaping the Ignite Series, sponsored by NatWest, and focused on biodiversity metrics essential for NatWest’s portfolio understanding and TNFD reporting.
Callala's efforts resulted in significant internal impact, helping to streamline the event series both for NatWest and technology providers. The project reinforced Callala’s expertise in integrating space technology and sustainable finance, proving Callala's ability to drive innovation and foster industry growth.
While developing our Climate Impact Lab programme we contracted Callala to help us understand the barriers to adoption of climate services by financial institutions. The work undertaken by Callala helped shape the lab programme to best drive impact for the participating organisations by providing us with detailed information on the barriers preventing greater adoption of these services and recommendations to overcome these barriers. The outputs exceeded expectations due to Callala providing us with opportunities we could use in conversation with financial institution stakeholders that resonated with them and encouraged them to participate.
Callala's expertise in geospatial data and sustainability provided us with unique insights and knowledge. In addition, they were able to call upon their extensive network which gave us confidence that the outputs were representative of the wider sector. They have been a great company to work with and I would be very happy to recommend them.
Andrew's deep understanding of the climate services landscape was instrumental in supporting market research on barriers and enablers to climate service adoption. This work contributed significantly to the Climate Impact Lab, a climate and finance-focused tech accelerator.
Callala's thorough report, enhanced with actionable recommendations, aided in planning the next steps and capitalising on early commercial leads. Their dedication to creating commercial opportunities for businesses to achieve climate-positive outcomes through innovation in net-zero and low-carbon technology sets them apart. The team excels at navigating the intersection of climate, technology and business, using deep expertise to drive positive change.
